في مفاجأة مثيرة قدم الناشط القبطي ورجل الأعمال المهندس هاني سوريال بلاغا إلى النائب العام ضد كل من الأنبا باخوميوس ـ القائم مقام شنودة ـ والأنبا تاوضروس يعقوب والقس انطونيوس فكري بصفته ، مطالبا بوقف جميع إجراءات تنصيب البابا الجديد للكنيسة الأرثوذكسية، معتبرا أن هذه الإجراءات قامت على باطل وأنها مخالفة للكتاب المقدس ونصوصه.
وأكد سوريال في بلاغه أن المرشحين الثلاثة الذين تم إجراء القرعة الهيكلية من خلالهم لا يملك أحدهم شروط الترشح لهذا المنصب الرفيع ، وأورد سوريال في بلاغه العديد من نصوص الكتاب المقدس التي يراها مؤيدة وداعمة لكلامه.
